ISLAMABAD: Addressing the ministerial moot of SAARC interior ministers, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said there should be a SAARC-pol, just like Interpol, to facilitate exchange of regional information.

He said SAARC members should strive to eradicate terrorism.

The ministerial-level meeting of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) began on Saturday.

The interior ministers will focus on a 15-point agenda set for their meeting by interior secretaries.

The agenda covers aspects like anti-terrorism campaigns, modification in immigration laws, prevention of drug and human trafficking, relaxation in visa laws, maritime security and other matters of mutual interest.

Secretary General SAARC Doctor Sheel Kant Sharma is also scheduled to address interior secretaries during the conference.

The next SAARC conference will be held in Madives in 2011.
