PESHWAR:

A petition seeking a ban on controversial film ‘Joyland’ and removal of related material from social media was filed in the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

PHC’s bench consisting of Justice Aijaz Anwar and Justice Arshad Ali heard the case. Advocates including Sara Ali Khan and Zainab Iftikhar were the petitioners who appeared before the court.

They argued that a specific class was “trying to hurt our religious and social values” as the contents of the film were against Islamic values and the Constitution of Pakistan.

They prayed that the film be banned on cinemas and social media.
