JI issues legal notice to PPP govt

Says provincial govt responsible for substandard development work

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi has issued legal notice to the Pakistan People Party government in Sindh over massive corruption, misappropriation, and substandard development work ongoing in the mega city.

JI Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has revealed this at a press conference held at Idara Noor-e-Haq, the JI Karachi headquarters, here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the JI through the legal notice demanded of the PPP's provincial government to make public details of all the development work that has taken place or planned since 2019 under the Right to Know article of the constitution of Pakistan.

Referring to the Article 19-A of the constitution, he said that the people have the right to know about the desired information. He added that the JI has asked the government to reveal all details, including the cost, date of start and culmination, contractors as well as other relevant departments.

It was also mentioned in the legal notice that a large number of recently completed patchwork and other works have already been damaged partially or completely without any apparent reason, indicating that massive corruption, misappropriation was involved in the substandard works, he added.
