Rs500m released for development projects

Sources revealed that tenders for 120 development schemes of the district council will open on December 5

Funds worth Rs500 million have been released for 258 development schemes in the Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC) and the district council.

According to sources, official tender notices for the projects have also been issued.

They said Rs250 million have been allocated for 138 projects of the union councils (UCs) of the metropolitan corporation and 120 projects in 46 UCs of the district council.

The funds would be used to improve the water supply, repair roads, construction of drainage systems, upgradation of sewerage lines, construction of streets, sidewalks and water filtration plants, sources said. Moreover, new tube wells and additional classrooms will also be established in the government schools using these funds, they added.

Sources also revealed that tenders for 120 development schemes of the district council will open on December 5 whereas the tenders for development schemes of the metropolitan corporation will begin on December 12 after which their work orders will be issued.
