KARACHI:

A suspected terrorist from the banned separatist organisation - Sindh Revolutionary Army (SRA) - was detained during an operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) with the help of an intelligence agency in the Mehran Town locality of Korangi district.

The CTD and intelligence agency officials arrested SRA operative Rustam Ali Shar and recovered weapons from his possession during the raid at his alleged hideout near Traffic Police Licence Branch, Mehran Town, in the remits of Korangi Industrial Area police station. CTD officials said the arrested suspect conducts ideological classes and is responsible for 'brainwashing' recruits against Pakistan.

As per the counter-terrorism personnel Shar used to get orders directly from SRA's renegade leader Zulfiqar Khaskheli, who is hiding in Germany. Shar was in contact with Khaskheli through online applications Signal and Telegram.

The detained suspect is also involved in facilitation of clandestine and subversive activities against the country by supplying arms and ammunition to terrorists, CTD said. As per CTD, Shar is wanted for his suspected involvement in ideologically motivated murders, attempted murders, bomb blasts on railway tracks, and other incidents of sabotage and subversion in Sindh.
