Suspect wanted for terrorism, target-killing, extortion in Peshawar and Khyber district, says DPO Khyber

Police, Counter-Terrorism Depart (CTD) and security forces in a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber district’s Jamrud area killed a terrorist wanted for extortion, target-killing and terrorism.

DPO Khyber, in a press briefing on Monday, said that the suspect was an expert target-killer in Peshawar and Khyber district, adding that he was also involved in targeting the residences of police officials and security forces with hand grenades.

He said that the terrorist had also called a factory owner in Hayatabad for extortion.

After the initial investigation, he revealed that the suspect had also planted an IED against the security forces, adding that the terrorist had also carried out shootings at petrol pumps.

During the operation, one security personnel embraced martyrdom while another sustained injuries. Several FIRs were registered by the CTD against the culprit.

An SMG, an AKGL, two hand grenades, three SMG magazines and other weapons were recovered from the killed terrorist during the operation.

The security forces arrested two other suspects during the operation, one of whom had sustained injuries. Further investigation is underway, added DPO Khyber.
