Mother and child centres will have midwives

The Punjab government has approved the upgradation of tehsil headquarters hospitals (THQ) in five districts, including two hospitals in Talagang and Murree tehsils.

According to sources, hiring of 1,350 additional staff has also been accorded for the provision of free medical treatment to women and children at tehsil levels.

For the upgradation of two new districts in the Rawalpindi division i.e. Murree and Talagang, Rs1 billion will be released immediately, sources revealed. They further said that transgender persons have also been declared eligible for hiring against these job positions, adding that they will be eligible to apply for all categories of jobs.

These approved recruitments would include 562 midwives, 470 female head nurses, 52 male head nurses, 154 anesthetists, and 112 sanitary workers, they said.

All midwives will be posted in mother-child centres and will receive a monthly salary of Rs16,000, they added.

It was also reported that eligible candidates may apply for the positions until November 28.

In addition, there are still quotas for women, minorities, and especially abled persons.

Sources privy to the development also said the new district headquarters hospitals' emergency rooms, outpatient departments and operating rooms will also be upgraded along with the construction of additional operating rooms.

The General Hospital in Murree has been declared a District Headquarters Hospital, they said adding that the hospital admin has been allowed to hire 100 new class-IV employees.
