RAWALPINDI:

The government has approved immediate recruitments on 1,180 vacant posts of class-IV (scale I to IV) employees in all 33 departments of the Rawalpindi district while issuing instructions to complete the inductions by the year-end.

Meanwhile, the recruitment of 17,000 vacant seats of class IV employees will also be carried out in all government institutions across Punjab.

Addressing a longstanding demand of government employees, the children quota in the new jobs has also been increased to 20 per cent and the age limit for fresh recruitments has also been relaxed from five to 15 years. With this increase in the general age relaxation, the children of poor families who are overage will also be able to join government departments.

Since the establishment of Pakistan, there used to be a quota of five to 10 per cent for the children of employees in every department, but the previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led government abolished it.

However, the quota has now been restored and its rate has also been increased to 20 per cent, spreading a wave of happiness among government employees.

The candidates recruited on the children quota will only have to be on merit and will not have to take any tests or interviews.
