SWABI:

Awami National Party (ANP) Acting Central President Ameer Haider Hoti has demanded a transparent investigation into the assassination attempt on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan in order to avoid more complications.

He was addressing the ANP’s Aman March at Swabi interchange, Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway on Friday.

A large number of party workers from across the province participated in the march.

The participants said that they strive for peace not only in all Pakhtun regions but across the country as they are followers of Khan Abdul Ghafar Khan who taught the philosophy of non-violence.

Although there are a million political differences with PTI and Imran Khan, we are against violence in any shape and form, he said.

Hoti observed that being political people they wanted peace as bullets could not remedy political differences.

Wherever there is terrorism, we condemn it and pray for the speedy recovery of those who are injured in the attack, he added.

“We have gathered to give the message of peace to the whole world and Pakistan,” said the former K-P chief minister, adding that his party condemned the killing of innocent people under any pretext.

ANP Provincial President Aimal Wali Khan noted that they wanted a policy which could guarantee peace for his fellow Pakhtuns.

“Today, the people of Pakhtunkhwa have come out for peace and this peace march is a proof of it,” he maintained, adding that locals were ready to make any sacrifice for the sake of peace on their land.

“Unlike Imran Khan’s march, we have not come out for power, but for peace. This is the difference,” he said.
