World’s Tallest and Shortest Women Celebrate Guinness Day
Rumeysa Gelgi and Jyoti Amge, Guinness record holders, meet for the first time, celebrating unique connections.

The world’s tallest woman, Rumeysa Gelgi, and the shortest woman, Jyoti Amge, met for the first time to celebrate the 20th annual Guinness World Records Day.
Gelgi, a 27-year-old advocate from Turkey, stands at 7-foot-7.1 inches, while Amge, a 30-year-old actress from India, is 2-foot-7. Their meeting highlighted the diversity and connections celebrated by Guinness World Records.
In a heartwarming exchange, Gelgi greeted Amge with, “You are so beautiful,” to which Amge replied, “Thank you, you too.” The two bonded over shared interests, including self-care, makeup, and jewelry, and were filmed sipping tea and enjoying a lively conversation.
Both women are icons in the Guinness World Records' 70th-anniversary edition. Gelgi, named the tallest teenager at 17 and tallest woman in 2021, expressed her joy: “It’s an indescribable feeling.” Amge, honored as the shortest teenager in 2009 and confirmed as the shortest woman in 2011, added, “I can’t explain how happy I am!”
Their meeting showcased an inspiring celebration of individuality and connection, marking a memorable milestone in Guinness World Records history.
