Bid to smuggle kites, string foiled

Bhakkar district is now waging a campaign against kite-makers and flyers

Two alleged kite vendors travelling from Peshawar to Kot Addu were arrested at the interprovincial checkpoint at Dajal, police said.

They identified the accused as Khalil Ahmed and Rashid Ali. Police claimed that 1,200 reels of kite strings laced with chemical and 4,200 kites were recovered from the possession of the accused.

They said that the accused had been carrying all the stuff in a vehicle which police had impounded. A case against the accused was registered at the Saddar Police Station.

The Bhakkar district is now waging a campaign against kite-makers and flyers. Police said that the accused had been bringing the items from Peshawar to Kot Addu.
