On his 57th birthday, Bollywood's King Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, dropped the very first teaser of his upcoming film, Pathaan. The project, touted as Khan's big comeback to the big screen, stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in pivotal roles.
The clip begins with Khan being held captive for three years, who was caught during his last mission. The trailer then propels to a nail-biting action sequence as we are introduced to Abraham in the teaser.
A cat and mouse chase ensues as Khan and the Ek Villain Returns actor embroil in several fights throughout the video. Padukone barely makes an appearance but manages to hold her own in the few glimpses we see of her.
The minute-long teaser sees the Dilwale star in an avatar we've seen previously. The long locks, the bloodied yet never-giving-up anti-hero flying punches and dropping grenades could easily take one back to Khan's portrayal of Don in the early 2000s.
Padukone, unlike Khan, is a breath of fresh air with her sultry yet dominating hold on her character. Abraham, like Khan, has donned the good ol' uniform for the nth time, failing to bring anything new to the table.
The Siddharth Anand directorial ends Khan's hiatus from the big screen. The superstar was last seen on the big screen in Aanand L Rai's 2018 directorial, Zero, alongside Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.
In the past four years, the actor donned his production hat full-time. In 2020, he produced two films under his Red Chillies Entertainment banner - Kaamyaab and ‘83. Other than that, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai star has also produced Bob Biswas and Love Hostel. Pathaan is scheduled to release on January 25, 2023.
