Unknown rapist was seen loitering in the area

Amid rising incidents of sexual crimes, a mentallychallenged teenage girl was raped by a young man inside her house in Kashmir Colony, Mehmoodabad.

The city police chief took notice of the incident and ordered immediate arrest of the suspected rapist.

According to SHO Ijaz Pathan, a woman brought her mentally-challenged daughter to his police station, claiming that she had been subjected to rape inside their house in Kashmir Colony.

The victim, aged 18 or 19 years, was assaulted when she was alone at her home, SHO Pathan explained, adding that her younger brother had gone to a madressah while her mother had left for DHA where she works as a domestic help at a bungalow.

The SHO said that preliminary investigation suggests rape. However, the victim has been shifted to Jinnah Hospital for a medical examination. "We are waiting for the medical report for confirmation of the crime," he added.

However, police have registered a case under Section 376 of Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim's mother. According to the FIR, a young man, clad in pant-shirt and wearing a cap, was seen by local residents running away from the victim's house.

The same person was also seen loitering around the victim's house before. Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho took notice of the incident and ordered immediate arrest of the suspected rapist.

Meanwhile, the medical examination of a six-yearold has confirmed that she was subject to rape. The bizarre incident took place in Shah Latif Town. Police have arrested victim's maternal uncle and his wife, while a third accused, named Ghaffar, is absconding.

According to Police Surgeon Dr. Samia Syed, the victim is suffering from severe psychological trauma. Samples, including DNA of the victim, have been collected for laboratory tests while she has been shifted to Jinnah Hospital for further medical assistance.
