PESHAWAR:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) police on Tuesday issued instructions to all officers against participating in the long march being held by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).

A letter, issued to all officers, stated that as per the directions of the federal government, all government employees have categorically been prohibited from becoming participants in the protest.

The instructions stated that no K-P police official will be permitted to enter Punjab except on official duty during the 'Haqeeqi Azadi March' and that they were restricted from becoming participants in the protest and sit-in.

“No policeman shall trespass within his jurisdiction and policemen shall be confined to their duty as per law,” stated the directives.

The PTI's march resumed on the fifth day today from Gujranwala as it inched closer to the federal capital.

Meanwhile, the schedule for PTI's march to enter the most sensitive areas of Rawalpindi has been finalised according to which the participants of the long march will enter the garrison city from T-Chowk Rawat instead of the Islamabad Expressway, under the leadership of party chairman Imran Khan.

On the other hand, the federal government on Monday had extended the Red Zone till Zero Point in Islamabad, Express News reported.

As per details, Faisal Avenue, Margalla Road, Bari Imam and Fifth Avenue have also been declared part of the no-protest area.

The district administration stated that Section 144 will remain imposed in the areas declared as Red Zone, adding that no rally or public gathering will be allowed in the extended area.
