Establishing institutions is not a difficult task, but organising and stabilising them is a real challenge, said Vice-Chancellor University of Karachi Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi.
He said that only political stability develops a strong economy, but unfortunately, for the last many years Pakistan has been going through political instability.
He expressed these views while addressing the alumni dinner of the University of Karachi Applied Economics Research Centre (AERC). Addressing the occasion, he said the country needs political stability on an emergency basis.
He further mentioned that one of the major reasons for the decline of our economy is that no ruler has ever prioritised the education and health sector in this country. He shared that without investing in the education sector and promoting research culture, we would never be on the list of developed countries.
"We need to move forward in the field of research," he said. Iraqi appreciated the achievements of AERC alumni and expressed that graduate students of any institution are a reflection of it. He said that alumni of the AERC are doing an extraordinary job around the globe. He added that the graduates of AERC are holding key positions in different countries of the world.
