A generator of a school in the Naya Abad area of Lyari caught fire after overheating.

The school building got filled with smoke creating panic, while many students fainted. Police rushed 11 children to Civil Hospital in Edhi ambulances.

Among the children brought to pediatrics emergency of Civil Hospital, the condition of Zain Saeed, 9, Hannan Ashraf, 10, Idrees Salim, 11, Zain Sher Mohammad, 9, Danish Khurram, 11, Hajra M Haneef, 9, Amna, Fatima Shafi, 12, Qasim, 8, Kiran 16, and Umme Hani, 11, was serious due to smoke inhalation.

SSP City Shabbir Sethar said that police reached the school immediately after receiving a call on the helpline. More than 200 children were in school at the time of the fire. According to the police, the school's lack of ventilation led to suffocation. Dr Ghansham, said that eight students were admitted to pediatric emergency.
