PTI chief vows to free the country from the ‘gang of thieves’

PTI Chairman and former premier Imran Khan on Wednesday observed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif seemed to be in “low spirits” after his announcing the date of the long march to Islamabad, vowing to “free the nation” from the “gang of thieves”.

The PTI chief made these remarks while addressing his supporters in Sialkot.

“A gang of thieves and slaves of America were imposed upon us. Our fight is against these thieves and [mission is to] bring real freedom to the country,” he said.

Imran said all the sacrifices would go to waste if the “gang of thieves” continued to rule the country and vowed to free the nation from them.

Calling upon the incumbent government to hold early elections, the PTI chairman said he was kicking off his long march from Lahore’s Liberty Chowk on Friday.

“We will continue to strive until people get their rights through elections.”

Imran said an “attempt” was made to “scare the people” by martyring journalist Arshad Sharif but noted that the nation had been more resolute than before.

Sharif was shot dead by police along Nairobi-Magadi Highway on Sunday night in a case of “mistaken identity”, as reported by the Kenyan media. He had fled the country in August after he was charged with sedition.

Imran claims Sharif had been a victim of targeted killing.

He censured the authorities for allegedly torturing PTI leader Azam Swati in front of his family. Swati was arrested over a controversial tweet thought to be against the armed forces and was released after a week later.

The PTI chief spoke of an unidentified personality in the federal capital whom he called “Dirty Harry” and accused him of stripping people naked as part of torture tactics due to “mental illness”.

“Listen, I will bring you to justice,” he said, warning the unidentified person.

Imran labelled Premier Shehbaz as a “timid person”, saying he seemed to be in low spirits after coming to know about the date of the long march.

Calling Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah a “murderer”, Imran asked him to be “ready”, saying a “sea of people will reach Islamabad”.

Imran said his long march will be the “biggest” in the history of the country.
