'The Legend of Maula Jatt' mints Rs100 crores in 10 days

Lashari, cast congratulate audience for propelling the film into becoming Pakistan's most successful one to date

Bilal Lashari's epic, The Legend of Maula Jatt, has crossed Rs100 crores globally, the makes shared on social media. Lashari, producer Ammara Hikmat and the star-studded cast of the hit film congratulated the audience for propelling 1979's reboot on the run to becoming Pakistan's most successful film to date.

The Legend of Maula Jatt stars Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humaima Malick, Gohar Rasheed and Faris Shafi in pivotal roles.

Malick took to Instagram and expressed her gratitude in a long note. "Maula Jatt just crossed 100 crores today. I can't tell you how emotional I feel while I'm typing this as words can't describe how proud and happy I feel for our country. I started working in the industry when I was 14 and Bol was my first project. Today, Maula Jatt made this big worldwide, loved by millions of people all over the world," she penned.

"It's a proud moment for Pakistanis all over the world as we've made 100 crores in 10 days and this is the best portrayal of our film industry. I'm so proud to be a part of it."

In its opening weekend, the largest-mounted Pakistan-made, Punjabi language film to date has shown collections of Pakistani Rs50.91 crores – US$2.3mn.

The Legend Of Maula Jatt was released worldwide on 500+ screens across 25 countries, making it the highest and widest-ever release for any Pakistani or Punjabi film yet, a press release stated.

The film grossed Pakistani Rs11.27 crores (US$ 526,902) in the domestic, Pakistan market. It grossed £315,000 in the UK in its first weekend (four days) from 79 locations. This marks the highest opening weekend collection for any Pakistan-made or Punjabi language film in the UK to date, entering the UK Box Office Top 10 at position 9.

In Canada, The Legend Of Maula Jatt had grossed CA$324,000 ranking number 6 at the Canadian Box Office. Total collections for North America exceed US$600,000.

In UAE too, the film had grossed US$515,000+ in four days and reached Number 1 at the UAE Box Office, indicating the enormous support audiences have shown for the film. Other performing territories are Australia (AU$255,000), Norway, Germany, Netherlands, Spain and South East Asia.

The phenomenal response to the film has led to full house screenings across the world and queues outside cinemas, with exhibitors continuously scheduling additional screenings to meet consumers’ demands. Such has been the adulation for the film that standing ovations have been recorded at cinemas globally. The number of screens for the movie are increasing every day.
