A large peace rally was organised in Parachinar, Kurram tribal district as a protest against the increasing lawlessness in the region.
It was attended by tribesmen from lower and upper Kurram, students, traders and clerics and the participants demanded of the government to work for maintaining law and order in the area.
They said that local residents were willing to work together with the authorities to bring a lasting peace to the district, adding that no one will be allowed again to pose a threat to the peace and stability of the region.
The participants carried white flags and banners and chanted slogans.
“In the past the locals suffered greatly including the people of Kurram tribal district due to lawlessness but a repeat of the same saga would not be allowed,” they said, adding that the tribal elders would render all out support to the government and district establishment to end terrorism.
Addressing the rally, tribal elders said that all the economic activities had been hit hard by the recent wave of terrorism and militants were openly operating in the area which is completely unacceptable.
