ISLAMABAD:

Welcoming the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision to disqualify Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for five years, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) once again reiterated its resolve to conduct the general elections on time.

A meeting of the coalition was held under the chairmanship of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, wherein they expressed satisfaction over the performance of the incumbent government.

Talking to the media after the meeting, Fazl said, “Today is a blessed day in the sense that the nation got rid of a big calamity in the first meeting itself.”

“Imran Khan, the killer of faith, the thief of wealth, the robber of modesty, the mastermind of bad civilisation has met his end,” he lambasted Imran.

The PDM chief said that the coalition parties knew the country's problems from the day they raised their voice against the former government.

“We understood the value of Pakistan and knew that it was faced with a hypocrite,” he said. “Today it has been proved that he was neither honest nor trustworthy, he was proved to be the biggest international thief.”

“It is a matter of shame that the gift of a head of state was sold in the market; the same watch passed from the shopkeeper to its original owner,” Fazl said.

He said that they got rid of “civil strife”, adding that the coalition parties spent six months in the quagmire Imran had pushed the economy into.

“Today the country exited the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list through a careful approach,” he added.

“In the previous government, it went to the grey list, we brought it to the white list,” he continued. “Effects of policies take time to reach the nation.”

The PDM chief said that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is constantly trying to improve the economy by bringing down the dollar.

“We have always respected the decisions of the courts,” he said.

“America is threatening Pakistan and he (Imran) is saying that it is an imported government,” he added.

“Both America and Imran Khan have the same goal to destroy Pakistan’s nuclear programme. The whole nation has made it clear that we will not accept your dictation. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have taken a clear and blunt stand,” Fazl said.

“The nation does not want any kind of chaos, neither armed fighters nor military operations,” he said. “In political struggles and wars, sometimes the enemy is injured and sometimes we also suffer losses.”

He said that this series of disqualifications should end. Politicians should compete with each other in politics, he added.
