Seven killed in wagon-trailer collision

KARACHI: Seven people, including two children, were killed and 14 others injured in a road accident near Kotdiji on Friday.

A wagon, registration number R-16883, was carrying passengers from Thari Miirwah to Khairpur when its tie-rod broke. The wagon skidded and collided with a trailer coming from the opposite direction on the old National Highway near Kotidji.

Those killed were identified as 16-year-old Dilawar, ten-year-old Shahida, Muhammad Aslam Mirbhar, 40, Sajji, 60, Ghulam Fatema, Khanan Khatoon, 30 and a two-year-old child.

The injured included Rehmatullah Gondal, Abdul Latif Gondal, Allah Dino Mari, Abdul Rashid Mari, Ali Hassan and Subhan Ali.

Drivers of both vehicles managed to escape after the accident.

The bodies of the victims and injured were taken to a local hospital. Four of the injured persons are said to be in critical condition.
