Police arrest fugitive ‘target killer’

Suspect confesses to multiple incidents of snatching, robbery among other crimes

KARACHI:

Police claimed to have arrested a renegade target killer during a raid in Gulshan-e-Iqbal in the wee hours of Monday.

A squad of Sir Syed police station, acting on a tip-off, caught Faisal K2, who went by his alias ever since he joined the militant wing of a religious-political party in 2007 while he was also working for the political party that controlled the city till 2016.

Police claim that Faisal, wanted for multiple murders and robberies during 2007 and 2014, was armed when he was arrested.

The suspect, in his confessional statement to the police, said that he along with his accomplice Shehbaz Shoobi, was also involved in multiple incidents of snatching and robbery cases and was arrested at New Karachi police station in 2008 in robbery and weapons cases and went to jail.

Police said that as per records, Faisal and his accomplices Kashif Bandar and Salman Phora were nominated in the targeted killing of a member of their party. Faisal was absconding in the case registered at the New Karachi Industrial Area police station.

Faisal was also involved in vandalism after the murder of Rizwan Qadri in June 2010.

During sectarian strife, Rizwan Qadri, 25, was shot dead near Shah Jehan pan shop, sector 5-E of New Karachi. Mobs took to the streets soon after the killing.
