Ashra-e-Shan-e-RehmatulLil-Alemeen (PBUH) is being celebrated with ceremonies being organised across Punjab at the government and private level, Senior Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal said on Saturday.
Addressing a conference organised under the auspices of the Auqaf Department, he said the main cause of the prevailing problems was distance from the Islamic teachings and the religious scholars should fulfil their responsibility to educate the new generation in this regard. He said the PTI government had decided four years ago to celebrate the Ashra-e-Rehmatul-LilAlemeen with complete religious devotion and respect.
The occasion is being celebrated like every year since the decision. The senior minister lamented that the powerful manipulated the law, while the poor languished in prisons for the attainment of justice. “One per cent of the people have made all others their slaves,” he said, adding that a society could not progress without the rule of the constitution and a uniform justice system for the rich and the poor.
Religious education brings change in human lives and Islam has fixed the rights of everyone. There is a need to understand and practice them, he added. Mian Aslam Iqbal distributed cash prizes and shields among authors during the conference. He said government and private buildings had been illuminated on the eve of the blessed day. He added that the markets and streets must be decorated but the aspect of devotion should be kept prominent.
