MULTAN:

Former prime minister and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has termed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) a security risk and demanded that the government launch investigations against it.

The former PM expressed the views while addressing a joint press conference with Pakistan Seraiki Party office-bearers at the Multan Press Club on Saturday.

On the occasion, the Pakistan Seraiki Party announced unconditional support to PDM candidate Syed Ali Musa Gilani in by-elections for the National Assembly seat NA-157.

Gilani accused the PTI of playing with the future of the country and indulging in anti-state acts for the promotion of its interests. He added that action should be taken against former prime minister Imran Khan as per law.

He alleged that the PTI was an ‘imported’ party made with foreign funding, reiterating that the coalition government had saved the country from bankruptcy by taking tough decisions and putting it on track for progress and prosperity.

Responding to a question, he stated that the government was taking steps to reduce inflation, as the decreasing dollar rate and reduction in oil prices was a good sign. He expressed hope that the newly-appointed Finance Minister Ishaq Dar would also take steps to give relief to the people in electricity bills.

He added that the PPP was the only political party which took steps for the Seraiki population.
