CM seeks report on Chinese dental clinic attack

Snap checking is going on across the city to detect suspicious vehicles and people on motorcycles

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed deep concern over the attack on a Chinese dental clinic in Saddar resulting in death of a Chinese dental technician and injuries to Chinese dentist and his wife - all Pakistani nationals.

CM Murad sought a detailed report from the Karachi police chief Additional IG Javed Alam Odho and directed him to ensure arrest of the killer at the earliest.

Dr Richard Hu Nu Yuao, his wife Phen Tiyen were injured, while Ronald Raymond Chou was killed when an unidentified assailant, who had come as a patient, opened fire on them with a pistol.

CM said Pakistan and China maintain an inseparable bond and an unsuccessful attempt is being made to sabotage friendly relations under a conspiracy.

Shah said that the law and order situation has been restored after great sacrifices so that people can live their lives peacefully and the province can develop. He directed the police authorities to ensure immediate arrest of the perpetrators behind the murder.

Checkpoints across the city

Police Chief Odhu has ordered snap checking across the city. SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur said they have put up pickets at 12 points in the district.

Meanwhile, police threw up 12 checkpoints at main entry and exit points of the Keamari district. Baldia Town SP Faizan Ali was running the operation of checkpoints to detect suspicious people at places like Hub River Road, Shershah, SITE and Mochko. Keamari district borders with Balochistan province and provides quick exit from Karachi via busses plying on the Hub River Road.

Central District SSP Rana Maroof said police have detained 20 persons for biometric verification during checking at 23 snap checking points. Police in East, West and South districts have also set up pickets to check suspicious persons.
