Two chartered aircraft of Garuda Indonesia carrying 90 tonnes of humanitarian aid for flood victims landed at the Jinnah International Airport on Tuesday.

The aid that included medicines, tents, clothes, blankets, sleeping bags, mosquito nets, and generators, was handed over to Sindh Minister for Labour, Saeed Ghani and Social Welfare Minister Muhammad Sajid by Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Muhajir Effendi at a brief ceremony held at the airport.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Effendi conveyed deepest condolences and sympathies to the flood victims from the government and people of Indonesia. "This humanitarian aid reflects the spirit of friendship and mutual cooperation to support each other in difficult times," he said. He stated that Indonesia and Pakistan have strong bonds of brotherhood and friendship. "The two countries have always supported each other in the times of natural calamities, be it the devastating tsunami in Indonesia in 2004 or the massive floods in Pakistan in 2010," he added. He hoped the Indonesian assistance would help mitigate the suffering of the affected communities and support the ongoing government efforts to overcome the impact of colossal damages across the country. He conveyed a message of sympathy from Indonesian President, Joko Widodo to the people and government of Pakistan.

Ghani expressed his gratitude to the people of Indonesia for showing solidarity and extending humanitarian relief assistance to Pakistani people. The Head of National Disaster Management Agency of Indonesia Lt. Gen.
