Cops drive with citizen's car, say it was stolen

Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell left red-faced for recovering wrong vehicle

A car of a citizen named Zahid Ali was stolen from near his house in Korangi Allahwala Town, however, the most susrpising thing seen on the CCTV footage is that the person who stole it came in a police patrol vehicle.

According to the CCTV footage, a car was seen parked along a street, a suspect got out of a police mobile, started examining surroundings, opened the door, got inside the vehicle and after a few seconds, the car started and the police mobile and the stolen vehicle left the street together.

Allegedly, a few people were also sitting behind the police mobile.

The case of the incident was registered at the Korangi Industrial Area police station, and according to the area police, the mobile allegedly used in the incident had police written on it. The mobile neither had a registration number nor the police's monogram print. The stolen vehicle is a 2008 model, and the police are investigating why such an old car was stolen.

Later in the evening the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell said it was their team and they had gone to recover a stolen vehicle. SSP AVLC Tariq Nawaz said three suspects arreste by the cell had confessed to parking stolen car at places where no one would doubt it. On pointation of the suspects the car was taken into custody by AVLC expert however it turned out to be wrong one. Nawaz said the vehicle will be returned to the owner.

Korangi Industrial Area police said if AVLC would not have faced the embarrassment if they had followed the protocol to inform the local precinct before making any raid.
