Labour organisations protest inflation

Protestors raised slogans against the increased prices of petrol, diesel, electricity, flour and other commodities

RAWALPINDI:

A rally and a protest demonstration were held by several labour organisations including Insaf Labour Wing from the platform of Mazdoor Ittihad against exorbitant inflation at Committee Chowk in which protesters raised anti-government slogans.

The Municipal Labor Union, Insaf Labour Wing, Murree Brewery, Koh-e-Noor Mills, Attock Oil Refinery, Teachers Union and other labour organisations participated in the rally which took out from the Municipal Corporation Office. The protestors raised slogans against inflation and government policies at the Committee Chowk. They carried placards and banners against the increase in prices of petrol, diesel, electricity, flour and other commodities. A large number of women also participated in the protest.

Labour leaders Raja Haroon Rasheed, Parvez Cheeda, Father Shahid Raza, Nisar Kayani, Khalid Shah and Insaf Labour Wing Punjab president Malik Ghulam Hussain strongly criticised the government. The speakers termed the government’s policies anti-people and said that the rising inflation has made life difficult for the poor.
