ISLAMABAD:

Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique directed airlines, the national flag carrier, to increase flight operations to Quetta after the land connection to Balochistan was severed due to devastating floods.

The aviation minister gave the instructions during a special meeting of the aviation department he headed.

Instructions were issued to the national and other domestic airlines to increase the air operations of Quetta due to the lack of ground connectivity.

He also directed the officials to increase the number of weekly flights from Lahore to Quetta. “PIA should promote its discount to senior citizens, students and special persons,” he said.

PIA has created the feasibility of operating flights from Quetta to Iran and Iraq to provide safe and comfortable travel facilities to the pilgrims, Rafique said during the meeting.

Khawaja Saad Rafique said that budget airlines with small jets will be encouraged to increase domestic flights and make small airports functional.
