‘Papaya leaves are no cure of dengue’

Health minister said papaya or its leaves do not have any positive effect on dengue patients

Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho said in a video message that use of papaya and its leaves is not a cure for dengue, but the use of papaya leaves increase the risk of diarrhea, which can worsen the condition of the patient.

She expressed these views in a video public message while explaining the preventive measures related to dengue and malaria.

She added that dengue is a viral disease and using papaya and papaya leaves to treat dengue is a wrong remedy. The health minister said that use of papaya or its leaves does not have any positive effect on the patient of dengue, but their use can cause diarrhea.

She said that Aspirin reduces platelets in the body. Only Panadol is useful for dengue fever.
