KHUSHAB:

The botanical garden in Joharabad is an example of beautiful structure and utility. This beautiful garden is spread over four acres, and 80 botanical and medicinal plants have been planted with their scientific and local names as well as uses and details about where these plants are found written.

Agriculture officer and botanist Farooq Awan told The Express Tribune that 10 botanical gardens have been built on a very large scale in the world. Inspired by them, they were building this garden.

He hoped that this would prove to be a good experience, and by expanding this garden, the medicinal and rare plants of Khushab district could be collected in one place and through the information obtained from them, awareness about them would be spread.

Considering this utility, these plants will also be grown locally.

Mohammad Daniyal, a resident of Khushab, said that he had seen these plants before, but during his visit to the garden, he learned how important and valuable they were for people’s lives from the details provided on the plants.

This garden is no less than any other garden in terms of beauty, he said.

Muhammad Usman, a student, said that all the details and information about the plants were provided in the botanical garden of Joharabad while information boards have also been displayed regarding the history of district Khushab.

Divisional Forest Officer Naseem Iqbal Butt told The Express Tribune that phase one of the botanical garden, which had been launched in April 2022, was now complete. Eighty species of plants were raised in this phase.
