It has been revealed in some shocking videos that people with mental disabilities are being tortured into begging in Rawalpindi. As soon as the videos went viral on social media, the CPO Rawalpindi Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari ordered immediate action.
Following the directives, the Ganj Mandi police arrested a suspect and recovered begging proceeds from him. Several videos had gone viral on social media where a suspect could be seen forcing mentally challenged people to beg and then later on torturing them as well.
One of the videos showed a man counting the money and another one showed him forcing a mentally challenged person to give him a massage. Similarly, a video surfaced in which he is seen torturing the disabled people.
Taking notice of the videos, the CPO Rawalpindi assigned the task of arresting the accused to the Ganj Mandi Police which conducted a raid and arrested Khadim Hussain, recovering more than Rs27,000 of the begging proceeds.
During the initial investigation, the accused confessed that he forced two mentally challenged persons to beg. The CPO Rawalpindi said that violence against mentally challenged persons and forcing them to beg is an unfortunate and intolerable act.
He claimed that the culprits would be strictly punished and the mentally challenged people would be rescued very soon.
