RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab Department of Population Welfare and Family Planning (PWFP) has announced to organise puppet shows in all tehsils of Rawalpindi district from September 21 to educate people about balancing population and resources

The PWFP said that the puppet shows aim to educate people on balancing resources and population, education of children, birth spacing and mother and newborn’s health.

Addressing a training programme, PWFP District Officer Shireen Sukhan said that through puppet shows informative and entertaining messages will be conveyed to the public.

She said that programmes will be held in Taxila on September 21, in Kotli Satiyan and Murree on September 22 and in Kahuta and Gujjar Khan on September 23. She said that the PWFP was not only running an awareness campaign in urban areas but also targeting villages and remote areas to ensure that people know about the importance of the mother and the newborn’s health

She said that the message could easily be delivered to the people in villages through puppet shows. “We aim to spread these messages in all cities, villages and remote areas of the district so that awareness could be raised among people regarding the burgeoning issues including the population and their response about the same.
