LAHORE:

The appointments of political assistants to Punjab Chief Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi were challenged in Lahore High Court for getting them declared as illegal with further direction to restrain them from their official work till the final decision.

Petitioner Muhammad Shehzad filed a petition making respondents to chief secretary, additional chief secretary, secretary to law and others.

He contended in his petition that the respondents appointed more than 30 people (male and female) as political assistants and honorary political assistants to the chief minister without backing any law and there is no such post has been defined under any law of the land.

He implored that the concerned quarters were written for taking immediate action against the illegal appointments and the illegal usage of the government vehicles by the above said illegally appointed political assistants to the Punjab CM but they did not bother to take action.

He prayed the court that the said appointments of political assistants to the Punjab CM be declared as illegal and the officials on those posts be restrained from their official work till the final decision of this petition.
