SBP asked to probe donation transactions failure

Former premier’s aide said that Rs1.9 billion were received from overseas Pakistanis

Senator Dr Sania Nishtar on Thursday asked the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to look into the failure of certain transactions that were made to offer assistance to flood victims.

In a tweet, she said that they collected more than Rs5 billion since the first telethon held by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on August 29 for the flood victims. She said that Rs2 billion have been earmarked for rehabilitation efforts.

The senator said that since August 29, they received more than $3.88 million through credit card transactions. However, she added, credit card transactions of $17.87 million failed. She urged the central bank to take notice of the matter.

The former premier’s aide said that Rs1.9 billion were received from overseas Pakistanis as around 0.1 million Pakistanis from all over the world, including the country itself, sent them their donations.
