LAHORE:

Monsoon system in central parts of Madhya Pradesh, India may affect the upper catchment from September 17, Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PPDMA) Director General (DG) Faisal Farid said on Tuesday while quoting the Meteorological Department.

He warned that the water level in the channels of rivers may rise from September 18, causing floods.

“Make arrangements and mobilise teams from all district health and livestock departments. Citizens should call PDMA's helpline 1129 for help,” he said.

The DG urged the districts to complete their preparations to deal with the emergency situation, adding that the relevant authorities should take necessary measures to avoid the loss of life and property.

He said the administrative officers should move people from near the rivers and streams to safe places, if necessary.

Monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in the country and continue to threaten the lives of many.
