Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra has become the seventh Bollywood film to mint INR100 crore in three days at the domestic box office.
The Ayan Mukerji directorial has recorded roughly the 3rd biggest weekend of all time for a Hindi film, falling into more or less the same category as Salman Khan’s Sultan. The final collection of Brahmastra will determine if it’s the third biggest film of all time or if it’ll settle for the fourth spot, as per Pinkvilla.
The film’s weekend business has been humongous to say the least, as the all-India gross total stands slightly over INR140 crore. The business in the international belt is also promising, making the global weekend total of Brahmastra amount to INR210 crore as per estimates. All eyes are now on its Monday box office numbers and it is essential for Brahmastra to rake in at-least INR15 crore nett in Hindi to continue outperforming runner-ups.
So far, Brahmastra has been reigning supreme like Marvel Superhero films. But a strong platform on the weekdays will make the path ahead easier for this magnum opus. Mondays are generally high on spot bookings, too.
Brahmastra is the second Kapoor film to score Rs 100 crore in its opening weekend whereas Bhatt makes her debut in this club. The box office success has also resulted in Kapoor making INR30 crore or more in a single day for the sixth time in his career, the feat is once again, the third best for any actor after Salman Khan (20 times) and Aamir Khan (9 times).
The film hit cinemas across the country on September 9. As per Bollywood Hungama, Brahmastra is the costliest Hindi film ever made. The film has reportedly been made on a budget of INR4.1 billion. Prior to this, Thugs of Hindustan was the most expensive Indian film ever.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had previously told The Indian Express, “Brahmastra is a very significant film. The last few weeks have been terrible for the Hindi film industry. The sad part was that films were not picking up at all. Shows were being cancelled and this was happening for big star cast films. But the advance booking of Brahmastra has brought in some cheer and a ray of hope.”
