Woman, accomplice held on theft charges

Police say accused would be presented in local court to seek their physical remand

Race Course police claimed to have arrested a woman and her accomplice on theft charges and recovered cash and mobile phones from them.

According to the police, the woman, identified as Zainab, would enter houses asking residents to give her water to drink while her accomplice, Inayat, would wait outside in the streets in his taxi. Police said that the woman was seen entering and leaving houses with the help of CCTV footage put together from various locations.

The police were on the look when they spotted the accused at a location and arrested them. Police also recovered stolen mobile phones and Rs25,000 from the woman.

Police said that the accused woman roamed around in the neighbourhood in the taxi and entered houses before stealing stolen mobile phones. The accused would later sell the stolen mobile phones in the market, police said.

Police said that both the accused would be presented in the local court to seek their physical remand.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi police in an action against suspected bootleggers on Friday arrested two accused and recovered 200 bottles of liquor and 10 liters liquor from their possession.

According to a police spokesman, Kahuta police arrested Zahid with 200 bottles of liquor and Ehtesham for having 10 liters of liquor.

He added that separate cases have been registered against the suspects while further investigations were underway.
