UHS medical team leaves for Larkana

Medics will provide treatment for infectious diseases

A 10-member medical team of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) left for Larkana on Thursday to help the flood victims of Sindh.

UHS Vice Chancellor Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore sent off the team. The university medical team consists of five doctors and five nurses and paramedics.

The medical team has been sent to Larkana at the special request of the Sindh government.

It will provide medical treatment to the flood victims in Larkana and surrounding areas. The necessary medicines to treat common diseases are also with the team.

Led by the UHS Biochemistry department's Assistant Professor Dr Mansoor Ghani, the medical team comprises Dr Hassan Zahid, Dr Hamza Asif, Dr Mateen Qayyum, and nursing officers Noorul Haq, Habibullah, Akash Samuel and postgraduate residents Asadullah, and Usman Ali Shams.

On this occasion, UHS Vice Chancellor Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore prayed for the success and safety of the team leaving for Sindh.

“We cannot leave our brothers and sisters alone in this time of trouble. The passion of young doctors and health professionals to help the flood-ravaged people is commendable,” said the UHS VC.

Professor Rathore further said the UHS team would provide all possible treatment facilities to the flood victims of Larkana and adjacent areas. He raised concern over the spread of waterborne diseases among flood victims.
