BEIJING:

“Home appliance in Pakistan is a huge market of 200 million people while its industry size is not big enough as compared to the market,” JW Group (partner with Haier & MG) in Pakistan President Faisal Afridi said.

While the electrical appliance industry in Pakistan is growing rapidly, with an output value of around $1.1 billion, it still cannot meet local demands. Collaboration in this industry, between Pakistan and China, is key to unlocking the introduction of top-quality appliances in the country and assisting Pakistan in meeting its industrial goals.

“Different local and Chinese brands have tried to provide electronic products at a reasonable price to Pakistani consumers by adopting the roadmap of assembling and manufacturing. Our company is also contributing to these efforts. We have launched Hisense LED TVs, microwave ovens and Midea water dispensers,” claimed Imran Ghani, CEO of Tri-Angles Electronics Private Limited (also the official distributor of Hisense and Midea in Pakistan).

Citing an example of the need for localised home appliance products catering directly to Pakistani consumers, Park Hu Ganggang General Manager of Haier Pakistan Industrial said, “In Pakistan, power cuts are quite common. We are the first manufacturer to make fully automatic washing machines in Pakistan. Usually, when power shuts down, common machines do not automatically restart. We redesigned our product, adding a new function enabling the machine to restart automatically when power is restored.” He added that the new version of the machine has been named “one touch” to signify its automatic functioning.
