LAHORE:

A suspect arrested for stealing a fire truck was also allegedly involved in the theft of a LESCO truck from Poonch Road.

According to an FIR registered by the assistant manager of LESCO sub-division Islamia Park, the truck was stolen on July 4, after the driver had left it at a nearby park. Unidentified suspects stole it, the complainant said.

Earlier this week, a fire truck was driven away by an unidentified suspect from Queens Road. A case was registered and police launched an investigation, collecting CCTV footage from Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA).

In the footage, the truck was driven on different roads but eventually went out of sight.

During a search, police arrested a scrap dealer, Shahzad and recovered the truck when they raided his shop.

During interrogations, Shahzad confessed to the theft of the LESCO truck as well as the fire truck. Police counter-checked his revelations by analysing phone calls and CCTV footage.

Police were investigating the matter further.
