LAHORE:

The District Monitoring Officer (DMO) of Nankana Sahib on Sunday barred Federal Minister for Education Rana Tanveer Hussain and other public office-bearers from visiting NA-118 constituency.

The DMO of Nankana Sahib issued a notice titled “Violation of Code of Conduct of By-Election NA-118 Nankana Sahib”, barring the education minister from visiting the constituency.

The notice told the minister that it had been learnt through “some reliable sources that you are planning to visit constituency of NA-118 Nankana Sahib-II on 04th September, 2022” for participating in the election campaign of a PML-N contestant, Shezra Rai Mansab Ali Khan Kharal.

The notice informs the minister that his act “is sheer violation of the code of conduct” issued by the Election Commission and which renders him liable “to be proceeded against under the relevant provisions of law”.

The notice directs the minister “to follow the Code of Conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan in letter and spirit” and refrain from visiting the said constituency until the “culmination of by-election”.
