After the floods: Speed up efforts, relief agencies told

More than 600 millimeters of rain fall between August 9 and 10 has affected over 80% of Badin’s 1.8 million population

HYDERABAD: National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza has directed the district government and relief agencies to speed up relief work and to perform all activities with transparency. Mirza said that the number of relief camps should be increased in order to provide shelter to as many displaced people as possible. More than 600 millimeters of rain fall between August 9 and 10 has affected over 80% of Badin’s 1.8 million population. Mirza also directed the Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority and the irrigation secretary to speed up the plugging of breaches in canals and distributaries as well as saline water drains. She ordered the EDO Education to take action against absentee teachers for their reluctance to work at the relief camps.
