‘Don’t smoke here’, asking this much led to murder

Accused sentenced to life imprisonment, fined Rs500,000

KARACHI:

The East Additional District and Sessions Judge on Thursday handed a life sentence to a man convicted of murder.

"Don't smoke here" - asking this much led to Imran's murder at the hands of his neighbour, Qasim. The judge during a hearing at the Karachi City Court enunciated the verdict in the case of killing a man for stopping the suspect from smoking in front of his house.

The court sentenced the accused Qasim to life imprisonment for his involvement in the murder of citizen Imran. The court also imposed a fine of Rs500,000 on the accused. The court said in its verdict that the accused should pay the fine to the legal heirs of the deceased.

A case was registered against the accused in Jamshed Quarters police station by the brother of the deceased.

The complainant stated that on February 20, 2021, the accused was standing in front of my house and smoking a cigarette. Imran asked Qasim to move away, at which he went ballistic and started shouting profanities. Imran also got angry and suddenly Qasim pulled put a pistol and shot him.

According to the police, the deceased died in Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
