A body was found hanging at a factory near Khyber Chowk in Baldia Town on Thursday.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and shifted the body to Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital for legal formalities, where the victim was identified as Asif, 42.
SHO Zameer Ahmad said that according to preliminary investigation, Asif was murdered and then hanged to make it look like a suicide. "There is big laceration the back of the head of the victim, apparently he was knocked out then hanged." The SHO said.
The deceased was an employee of the loom compound of a local silk factory in the area and was doing his work at night after closing the factory door.
No one else was present in the factory except him. However, police suspected a person, known to the deceased, came to the factory at night. There is also a mark of injury on the head of the deceased, which shows that his head was hit by some heavy object, causing his death.
After killing the victim, the accused hanged the body with a noose so that the incident could be posed as a suicide.
Police have recorded the statements of the factory workers and are tracing CCTV cameras footage.
