The wallet app in iPhone will reportedly become an app that can be deleted by users in iOS 16.1, the analysis of an iPad's iOS 16.1 beta code revealed.
According to the code, the app will be downloadable from the App Store, if removed from an iPhone, and if the user wishes to use Apple Pay.
Currently, the app can be removed from the home screen and hidden but can't be deleted. 9to5Google reports the launch of iOS 16.1 will enable users to delete the app entirely.
The Wallet is the home to storing debit and credit cards for Apple Pay, along with loyalty cards, airline tickets, and much more. Apple is already facing a lawsuit for violating antitrust law by ensuring Apple Pay was the only wallet available for tap-to-pay payments.
The iOS 16.1 update is expected to come out in September, alongside the iPadOS 16.1 updates.
