A tourist allegedly shot and injured a boat driver after a heated argument at Khanpur Dam on Monday.
Police said that the argument took place over the non-payment of parasailing fee and the tourist opened fire at the boat driver. A video of the incident was filmed and went viral on social media.
According to the eyewitnesses Manwar Shah, Saeed Khan, and Riasat Ali, a family arrived at the parasailing spot. One woman of the family began to parasail and made eight aerial circuits of the dam. One of them even went for parasailing in the ninth cycle.
Despite full guidance, the woman could not get down, and thus the boat had to make three extra rounds. Moreover, she landed just two feet above the water due to which her family members began to verbally abuse the staff of the boat, they even tortured the guard on the boat. Afterward, they took out two guns of 223 bore from their vehicles and started firing.
When the President of the Boat Association, Raja Hanif Ahsan Kayani, reached the spot and when he saw the situation escalating, he called the police to intervene. Moreover, all the employees got together against the tourist, and the police barely saved him and took him to the police station.
After collecting evidence, the police registered a case against the accused under the provisions of section violation of 144 and aerial firing.
