PMD forecast heavy rainfall this week

KARACHI:

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in most of the districts of Sindh from Tuesday to Thursday.

As per the PMD synopsis, a seasonal low persist over Balochistan and upper Sindh, while another strong low-pressure area is currently located over central India and likely to approach Sindh from 23 August, which may bring moderate or heavy rainfall in most of the districts of Sindh, said the weather forecast.

The current rainfall is likely to continue in Noshehro Feroz, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Dadu, and Kambar-Shahdadkot districts till Tuesday.

Karachi division and Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Matyari, Thatta, and Sujawal districts are likely to receive light rain or drizzle.

The continuous wet spell over the northeastern and southern districts of Balochistan is expected to persist till August 22.

The forecast cautioned that heavy rains may create more water logging in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Noshehro Feroz, Kambar-Shahdadkot and Kashmore districts.

Persistent heavy rains over Khuzdar, Lasbela, and Hub districts of Balochistan may create extra pressure on the Hub dam.
