Accused collected millions of rupees from people for sending them on Umrah

The East Judicial Magistrate has sent the suspect, who defrauded citizens in the name of Hajj by posing as the alleged son-in-law of the Muslim League-N leader, to jail on judicial remand.

The case was heard in the court of Judicial Magistrate Sharqi in Karachi City Court.

The police presented the accused Azhar Iqbal, who posed as the son-in-law of the Muslim League-N leader, in court. The court sent the accused to jail on judicial remand and asked the investigating officer to present challan of the case in the next hearing.

According to the case, the accused described himself as a member of the National Assembly and son-in-law of a leader of the Muslim League-N. The accused said that he had good contacts in the Saudi Embassy.

As many as 57 people had given their passports along with Rs2 lakh per person for getting visas.

Rs1 crore and 35 lakh were given to his associate Muhammad Aslam on the request of the accused. When the accused was asked about the visas after three days, he said that the visas could not be issued. When he was asked to return the money, he gave life threats.
