PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Grand Health Alliance has given a call for a strike from August 26 against the government policies.

It warned that if the government failed to address the grievances of the alliance then they would go for a strike from August 26 and it would continue till September 1.

The announcement was made on Friday in the cabinet meeting of the alliance which was attended by doctors, nurses, paramedics and other health employees.

The meeting rejected the Health Care Facilities Bill as well as Public Private Partnership introduced by the government in some hospitals in the province.

It was decided that from Saturday (August 20) all the members would wear black bands on their arms to record their protest and then from August 26 a complete strike will be observed under which OPD services will be closed in PPP hospitals till September 1.

If the demands are not met then from September 2 emergency services will be closed down in all hospitals of surrounding areas.

In case the demands are not accepted then on September 9 a protest will be organized outside the Assembly and the future course of action will also be announced.
